Let's talk about the joy of owning a small business versus reality.
Owning a small business - imagine the wins of providing a service or product and reaping the rewards of your success! All good stuff, right?
- Often the reality can be somewhat different as being a SBO (small business owner) can be daunting. Especially if you're not honest in accepting what you're good at and what's not your strong suit.
In my early years, there was a support crew for most roles. Fantastic if you are a big corporate and have the big budget to match ... not ideal or always an option for an SBO.
As a solo businesswoman I've had to cut my teeth through processes and tasks I just didn't like (and still do in some cases). So let me give you some tips:
Simple solutions if you are new to business, feeling stuck or employing help isn't an option right now.
1. Put nothing off. Address everything, always.
2. Be transparent with yourself - there are no prizes for second place and falsehoods.
3. Find and ask for help; ask your networking buddies, a person who you admire in business or look for local business groups.
4. Find a like-minded business buddy to keep each other on track.
5. Review - look at how you're going and don’t be afraid to make small tweaks. There is no need to throw the baby out with the bathwater, but sometimes getting a second opinion can be GOLD.
6. Support your mindset. Read a good book or listen to an inspirational business person.
7. Keep a business journal and write in it daily to track your high (and less high) moments. Make good notes to see what has worked and what hasn’t - you'll appreciate these when you look back and review.

We have all been through periods when we could go back to a day job! When I get asked this question, I speak up and say, no!
I love working with business owners to inspire them and clear away the clutter for success.
